The June 23 issue of Supercomm has a research report on voice over IP from Probe Research Group. They are estimating 600 billion Minutes of use by 2005. However, this market is not estimated to build significant momentum untill the end of the century when they expect it to start to explode! Lack of regulation was blamed as the #1 culprit to this market taking off. Examples include: What defines an internet call? How do states react to losing money on local calls? Will business embrace deployment now, or will they wait for improvements in quality before wide spread implementation occurs? How will international commerce be affected?
