That is, trying to occupy and govern a hostile society bent on evicting you.

The Israelis seem smarter than that. They will raid and pull out terrorists, but not run the place. It is messy, I know, but it is working at the moment, and will continue, I think until we settle some hash in Iraq/Iran, if we ever do.

The Arabs have been able to get us to "put the cart before the horse" by spending time on Palestine, but I think the time will turn to be well spent if it finally gets our State Department to realize that we cannot settle the "Palestine" issue, and let us get on with taking out the terrorist network over there.

I don't think there is any strong Al Qaeda connection with Arafat. But it really does not matter. We are going to have to take out all the terrorist networks if we want to settle this issue. I don't agree with those who say, "we will only breed more terrorists." If we kill enough of them and keep it up, they will be disorganized to accomplish anything.

In any case, if we back down now and don't go in there and get them, we are going to be wide open for major attacks. I think the Arabs are counting on us to not have the will to finish this. Can we "screw our courage to the sticking point?" TWT.
