The racial thing is silly (imo). The problem is the accidental activation of the k-9 door and the fact that the dog got out and bit the boy. Whether the boy was white, purple, or black, it is a problem the dog bit the boy.

I think, given the circumstances, it is reasonable to give the dog another chance. The dog was not under direction as it typically would be. In a melee, and with his accidental release, one would like to expect the dog not to bite anyone, but it is an ANIMAL, after all. Police officers occasionally shoot innocents in melees, and we don't put them to sleep.

So I would ignore the racial element and give the dog another chance.
