Barak is saying Arab culture (whatever that is) condones the telling of lies in a way the culture of Israel does not.
Or more specifically, 'Palestinian nationalist' culture, whatever that is. Yup, that's what he's saying. As I have said before, truth is not libelous.
Let's just run down a small sample, taken from Arafat interviews (usually in Arabic) and WAFA press releases:
IAF dropping poisoned chocolates on the West Bank IDF poisoning wells in the territories IDF tempting Palestinian youth by using female strippers on tanks IDF shooting Palestinians to harvest organs from them. IDF using depleted uranium weapons IDF using poison gas in the territories
Not just lies, but obvious and easily refutable lies. Curiously, Arafat rarely complains about the real actions of the IDF, such as arresting hundred of men, most of whom must be innocent.
Western politicians start with a truth and spin it. Arab politicians create a rhetorical reality out of whole cloth.
But can Barak, who likes to tell the left that he went further than everyone else and the right that he gave less than anyone else, let us know what are his specific proposals for a final peace agreement with the Palestinians?
I have listened to nearly everything Barak has said publicly since Camp David, and I have never heard him tell "the right that he gave less than anyone else". Never. He has claimed that he gave Arafat so much he "exposed his true face", just the opposite. I notice A&M don't give a source. |
