Original Mad Dog, I think your interpretation is correct. That is how I interpret that and that is what I have been hearing since my childhood from my Muslim friends. Having said that, your question raises a very interesting question which I would join with you and would ask my friends on this thread who are followers of this faith is: Are you folks very conversant with the Arabic language. If not then why would you trust someone who is interpreting what the Prophet said. Doesn't this leave the Fundamentalists to interpret what the Prophet said in a manner to serve their goals and ends.

Let me also add here what my childhood Muslim friends kept saying while we were growing up: The Pakistanis and Bangladeshis who did not know Arabic were not true Muslims and were kafirs because they did not know Arabic and hence could not connect with the Prophet directly (which I presume is that they could not read the Koran and interpret it their way).

And GROUND ZERO, could we discuss this in a more civil manner. I am sure that Amien Alsuezi has done very good homework in the past, and I would that he would be in a position to contribute here by providing us with a link to explain this.

And Original Mad Dog, thanks for your question and taking me back to my childhood days about what I kept hearing but never could figure out the answer.
