This is in the context of several people coming on several threads on SI and drawing references to Islam, ridiculing it and the sort. In support of what they say against, they provide URLs which to me are sites indulging in anti-Muslim propaganda. Since their information sources are anti-Muslim URLs, and furthermore since they have had no experience with the followers of Islam, their views are distorted.

On the other hand, I was born in their midst, I grew up in their midst and I have first hand experience with the followers of Islam and I do not have to rely on the URLs who deliberately twist the Islamic ideology to serve their purpose.

And then I ask "Or is it?" which is is it the other way around where they have more personal experience than I do and hence what they are saying is not a distorted image but something that they have apersonal experience of.
