Bill....thanks for the posting about India...

As your article states there are 5.75 million subscribers...in India

Well India is nearing the 1 billion mark in population. So Morgans statement about 10% of the people in the world using wireless is way off base. Cellular is available in Kinshasa, Addis Abba, Khartum, Lumbumbashi, Cairo and any other metro area. But just make sure that you don't try to use it more than ten miles from those metro areas.

Its the same here in Western Colorado. Lots of folks have wireless in the city....but its worthless 2 miles out of the city.

If you look at the maps provided by PCS, and AT&T, they show 90% of Colorado reachable by cellular. But if you read the fine print of the map it turns out that the so called area of coverage is under construction.(as it has been for the past ten years).

All the hype we have heard about broadband, and the last mile mile technology....is more of a solution looking for a problem. As I see it, we are now overloaded with sensory data of every nature imaginable.... so why would you want to increase the overload?

So you can call me a rural backwater hick... but Henry Thoreau went to Walden Pond to get away from the broadband of his day....why should we try to improve on his model?
