Hi Hogger, re: PR verification

"We probably do as well or better a job of weeding out this stuff than The Wall Street Journal does." -Lorey Lokey, owner of Business Wire (said during a WSJ interview about a certain press release hoax)

I'm not much of an authority on fake press releases — but I think he may be exaggerating their level of effort a little (later, the WSJ reporter to whom that was said confessed to rolling his eyes and nearly gagging, but that's another story). Message 12211338

This newer firm, Internet Wire, is the same outfit that initially ran the EMLX hoax a while back. Strictly IMO, I think they should hold some liability for this second occurence. Fool me once vs. fool me twice. If you followed the EMLX story, Internet Wire didn't just drop the ball so much as they failed to even grasp it. This second time is just plain reckless. They're flirting with becoming the PR industry's "Arthur Andersen".
