Most people don't understand that when you go to the corner store and buy a pack of gum, you have entered into a contract with the store. If you pay cash, the store has no idea who you are, but it has a contract with you.

When you mail a letter, you are entering into a contract with the post office.

Many people enter into a dozen or so contracts a day, often many more, without being consciously aware that they are doing so. But they are still contracts under law.

If you have any curiosity about the kinds of contracts people can get into, sit in a Small Claims court for a day and just listen. You'll learn a lot. I sit from time to time as judge pro tem in Small Claims court, and it's amazing what people will sue for. And win on, to the astonishment of a defendant who had no idea that they had entered into any contract, let alone a legally enforceable one.
