Not to belittle this article or anything- but isn't this statement above more or less common sense, that applies to most any product? Why are there still articles "pointing this out"?

If I buy a dishwasher for my home, and rip out the inside and make it so the rack for glasses is larger and lower, and then maytag upgrades the racks with new models- well, duh- they won't fit!

Software companies have tried to make the customization process easier with plug-ins etc. The customization ability is a main differentiator between enterprise-class apps and the packaged stuff that msft sells, imo. You'd think people in the mkt for this type of software would understand this.
