Zeev; I certainly dont have enough information to know how many of those managers are first rate or not; as a business man first, the old 80 20 rule applies often to most business', so I tried to give credit to the creme.
Softie says these guys are masters at sentiment, but when the whole field is constructed around a particular sentiment, that sentiment while prevailing currently; becomes the target, and that is certainly where the building counter weight will aim.

In my little universe of 150 stocks, short capital is mal invested capital, due to lack of liquidity and forward fundamentals of the underlying securities. I dont pretend to know the whole market or every stock. My whole mindset is to avoid liquidity based distributions. In fact I would say that those might be the easiest thing to do in the current trend, no different than the build up, people made a great living buying CSCO up and some are making a great living selling it down. Matters not to me.They are both genius in a segment of time.( Genius = profitable)

I'm working a whole different set of metrics, ones I construct, and it's quite enough for one person to keep up with.

On all other matters I defer.
