I was raised as an American Baptist, but there was none of the stuff you are intimating taught or even referred to.

Baptists as a whole are the largest non-catholic denomination, I believe.

Christians I know who interpret the Bible literally and claim "All of it or none of it!" might be annoying to talk to about such things, but they are, by and large, the nicest people you can meet. Mormons too, and I don't accept their ideas either. I'll tell you this: if the other so called fringe elements of the Muslim world were as these two, there would be no war and no terrorism.
