I'm not "blaming this on environmentalists." However, you can't deny they have attempted at every turn to obstruct scientific forest management that pays for itself and keeps fire to manageable levels. They want to pay people to go out and burn up trees without getting anything in return. Like a new house for every 10,000 board feet that goes up in smoke.

The "fire cycle" isn't relevant in today's world with houses and infrastructure everywhere except in wilderness. That's the only place where it can work effectively, reliably, and without undue consequences. And there, my friend, I'm in favor of it.
