Derogatory....more like accurate....

My point was about a particular kind of inaccuracy-- overstatement. There is a difference in severity between "creep" and "rapist" as well as in the specificity of the characterization. Just as I was sloppy in my statement earlier today, which could have been read as "all posters have made charges" rather than "these charges were all made by good citizen posters," many of the charges around here have been sloppy both in character and severity.

I would think that people would be more cautious in their accusations, making sure they are on firm ground. I think when people try to oversell their accusations, they undermine their own causes because they come across as zealots and zealots are notoriously wild with their charges. It doesn't mean that they are wrong on the underlying issue, only that they make themselves look unreliable and unbelievable by overstatement and that their overstatement invites criticism.
