"opening up our security services to public view"
These so-called security services' incompetence is the reason we had the disaster of 9/11 and the expectation of more.
Since the administration rewards incompetence, they either need to be rebuilt from the ground up, or opened to investigation of who, what, where, and why the biggest disaster we've had occured, and answer the list of questions.
We are at war? Is the declaration the one Congress made? Then why are countries like Saudi Arabia not declared enemies? This is war only in ways convenient to the administration. In a real war, the citizenry would be mobilized, neighborhood by neighborhood, and would not only feel involved, but would be more likely to protect our country, since citizens do a better job than the hamstrung military and intel services, as witness Flight 93, the only battle with terrorists in action in the US that has been won, was won by commited US citizens. The reason is that we citizens have the target painted on our backs, not the government officials, who have their bunkers and their secret information on what terrorists are doing and where.
We are on our own, and the public will rise to the occasion, if the government doesn't. So far, it hasn't. |
