CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Brooks-PRI Automation Inc. here this week announced its strategy in the tool automation and manufacturing execution system (MES) arena.

Under the plan, the company will consolidate its Factoryworks and Promis line of MES products in a newly-formed operation. The new MES Business Unit will be managed by Mike Smith, vice president and general manager of the Chelmsford-based company.

“As the supplier of Factoryworks, Brooks was already a leader in developing, delivering and supporting MES solutions targeting the semiconductor and precision electronics industries,” said Jeff Cassis, senior vice president of Brooks-PRI Automation's Fab Systems Group, in a statement.

“Now, we are also the supplier of Promis, a proven MES with a large installed base and a successful track record. Brooks-PRI is committed to meeting the manufacturing needs of all of its customers, and with Factoryworks and Promis we are confident that we can deliver on this commitment,” he added.
