Yeah, I'm pretty spent on this one. I recognize a denoument when I see one in the works. Let me make two last points that hopefully will be settling rather than agitating.
As you know, it was my husband's proposal that if he wanted a face-saver, he could claim it was a joke.
I don't remember who it was that said something really wise about war. I just remember the message and it has served me well for a long time. The message is that, if you're not going to kill your enemy, then you need to give him an opportunity to save face or he will be hostile to you forever. I don't think it's feasible to "kill" an enemy alias on SI, not in these times. I think it would have been wise to accept his apology, lacking though it was.

You know, as many times as Laz put the link to the insult before me and as many times as I read it, I don't think I really focused on the word, sadistic, until that point in the discussion. In the context of the discussion leading up to the insult and in the context of all the hype that's been flying around here, I read "sadistic" as "kinky" and my reactions reflected that reading. Had I focused on "sadistic" as "sadistic" some of my arguments would have been different. |
