Paul, I understand that this is often not easy
but as much as possible we should try not to "personalize"

we have been here on SI for 6 years now, which given the realities of cyberspace is an eon

the entire reason for being on here is to generate ideas, learn from each other, and develop trustful friendships

we have all made mistakes here, and I assume, with our own "real cash" as well
the object is to try to make a buck or two and to try to find trade methedologies that work consistantly over time under all market conditions

if there has been one pattern of mistakes here it has been this:
-go long under all market conditions
-buy broken stocks, sectors, fundamentals
-hold in spite of drawdowns of 10-20-50% or more
-average down
-hope that in spite of the reality of the moment that something will happen to take the stock much higher

now of course a lot of the problems have been caused by a prolonged and profound bear market in many sectors
but that is the reality
and that is why if we want to continue we must be able to adjust to what faces us

as bad as the performance has been here just think of what we would be facing if this were a margined acount

a "cleaning" of this portfolio as been talked about countless times
it may well be that every single stock that has been sold will now rocket up
that holding would have resulted in huge profits
but starting fresh after huge losses may well be what was needed to make a new start

all the best
