Yeah, well, you had better read between the lines because that clown is a socialist who has finally learned what is finally wrong. He talks the talk, but he doesn't know what he's talking about. It's all a collection of myths rationalized by what has become chic in the economic theory grab bag. I'm not going to waste time refuting every word this guy has to say, but I will tell you this: Canada better stop listening to deceivers like him because they only accomplish one end and that is to keep the country in the ditch.
You, in particular, need to read more closely. I have every confidence in Jay's ability to see what a fraud that guy is, but the mere fact that you link to that article, makes me concerned that you haven't understood my often repeated, "what is finally learned , is finally wrong". In the arena of international trade what is contained in those words, is a most pertinent idea.
What sounds like free trade is actually controlled trade. What sounds like the US acting anti-free trade actually promotes free trade. You have to get away from stereotypes from the past. This world now is not that world then.
When the US subsidizes it forces Canada to become more competitive, but not while Canada labors under socialism. The effect of US subsidies will make Canada less competitive, for the reasons Morck gave even while he reached the opposite conclusion.
You doubt me? Just ask yourself how Canada will respond to US subsidies. Canada will retaliate with its own subsidies. That isn't competitive, but it is what one can expect from socialism. Some big advantage, all pointed out by yesterday's clown. |
