The market doesn't agree, and still thinks criminals are getting away with murder, financially at least, and maybe otherwise.
The thieves are not going to jail, and are not disgorging profits. Only the investors are hurt. And will be again, with any such debacle, since there are no penalties for wrongdoing if you do it at the highest levels.
Your 401k won't be inching up anytime soon, if people are not held accountable. Capital formation suffers, the economy can't get traction, and people look in vain for trustworthy leadership, so stuff cash under the mattress, rural real estate, war investments etc. |
