The Nikkei bubble was a straight asset bubble (a la dutch tulips). The Naz bubble was a technology-driven bubble (a la canals and railroads). The former leaves nothing of economic value behind whereas the latter is almost always economically transformative to some degree.

Not quite true. Today, Holland is the world's largest exporter of tulips! <g>
