here's something interesting (copied from a yahoo post)

On the far right pulldown box, choose "commercial backbones".

In the left lower bottom pulldown, choose "UUnet".

Its a visual representation of the global internet backbone, you can choose any vendor or set of vendors and they appear in different colors. Some are outdated but UUnet and Sprint are recent enough, unfortunately AT&T and C&W are outdated.
