Friday January 11 2002 News Release
Ms. Nancy Tham reports
STARS ANNOUNCES NORMAL COURSE ISSUER BID
At Jan. 9, 2002, there were 8.53 million units issued and outstanding, including 8,294,230 units in the public float. STaRS may, during the 12-month period commencing Jan. 15, 2002, purchase on the TSE up to 829,423 units, being 10 per cent of the public float of the units. STaRS will cancel all units purchased pursuant to the bid.
STaRS believes that its units represent excellent value for the fund. Purchases under the normal course issuer bid would serve to enhance returns to unitholders as a result of the reduction in the number of units outstanding.
