Eye for an eye eventually makes everyone blind.
Can you imagine what the result of hitting one of "their" cities with a nuke?
a) First, it will be denied, whether Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, or one of the Evil Axis
b) Then, millions of fanatics will now have a mission - to revenge the last nuke with creative destruction of their own
c) Worldwide martial law, which will nonetheless be unsuccessful in preventing mayhem and destruction of cities and towns, and the American way of life will be a distant memory.
d) Destruction of the world economy into another Medivial Age of Unenlightenment, another Dark Age, with primitive transportation, living arrangements, checkpoints, guards, lack of incentives, enormous drag on creativity, motivation, productivity.
Only the warlords prosper.
