I expect that the mixed hardwood forest will migrate north to replace the boreal forest. This is not all bad. The boreal forest is, well, quite boring. <g>

Seriously, I think the world is just too preoccupied with other things to pay much attention. The scenario will play out and bad tragic things will happen. Eventually we'll get past the political squabbling and individual greed to face up to the problem, but due to the unfortunate late start we'll be fighting an environmental retreat for a few hundred years.

Like you, I am disgusted with Bush's energy and environmental policies. But he represents the views of millions of people, and this climate change problem has too much momentum to turn around quickly.
