Bill Re...hmaly, True, the mixed blessing as the sector tanks.
Frankly, I am not that concerned about AMD's quarter. Intel did say the public has shifted to a lower performance mix, which is where AMD shines. Secondly, everyone seems to agree flash has improved somewhat. Thirdly, AMD has only one little dinky fab, with minimal expense. Fourthly, AMd guided lower, percentage wise, than Intel at the quarter. Fifth, a lot of people have deride AMD for not going to .13 earlier. However, until Intel introduced 2.5 ghz, the XP held the performance lead, and the lower mixes were selling better anyway, so AMD just may have been wise in letting Intel, and the others work out the bugs at .13, so AMd could convert on the cheap.
AMD's main concern seems to have been conserving expenses in everything but getting Hammer out. Which, quite frankly, I agree with. So I don't expect a big downside warning, if any. |
