Another believer in the "this time its different philosophy" I could not diasagree more. I do agree that younger workers with little savings might continue to average down. But workers nearing retirment age (and those are the ones with by far the biggest nest eggs) will want to protect those assets from Wall Street spin doctors and thieves. In this regard more than a few 401K plans offer very generous risk free fixed income returns of 5% or more.
