Given your track record, why should we take your opinion seriously?

What "track record"? My opinion is at least as good as yours.

..cite a regime that actually was a foreign agent..

You could make a similar claim about every Moslem country in the world. They were all once colonies or protectorates or in someone's sphere of influence. And perhaps this history is part of the reason that when a Moslem regime gets cozy with us, it begins to be perceived as an illegitimate foreign agent to many of it's people.

Islam is only (or best) outlet people have in these societies to vent their criticism of the government.

It looks pretty ineffective as a positive solution to me - where do you think an "Islamic republic" has been an improvement over what came before?

They have genuine complaints about these illegitimate governments that we install and/or prop up.

I think they have grounds for genuine complaints too. Though the governments we don't prop up - Syria, Iraq, Algeria, Sudan, Libya - don't seem to be better than those we do - SA and the Gulf emirates, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, and the PA.
