Trouble at 130-nm node causes finger pointing

"(Thanks to Survivin on the AMD thread for this. Looks like Intel is ahead of the industry on .13u manufacturing. They've had a product for almost a year now, while many others are scrambling to catch up. The question is, will they continue to have an advantage at the 90nm node?)"

The history of the chip industry has mostly been that those who miss out on Generation N rarely do well on Generation N + 1.

If AMD is struggling to get their 130 nm process working (not to mention copper, not to mention SOI, which they claimed would be essential), odds are not good that they'll magically leap over 130 nm to the 90 nm process.

(I hear AMI and Electronic Arrays have almost got their 2 micron process working...)
