PRESS RELEASE:Intel Unveils Pdts For Xeon Processor Line

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 2002--Intel Corporation today announced a dozen server "building block" products -- including server boards, server chassis, RAID controllers, and server management software -- designed for OEM system builders and product integrators. Several of these new server platforms are based on the Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processor and Intel(R) E7500 chipset.

"This is a significant launch for Intel and our customers, with new additions across the entire product line," said Philip Brace, director of marketing for Intel's Enterprise Platform & Services Division. "Our strategy is to provide all sizes of integrators and OEMs with a breadth of server building block products that allow them to focus on their added value in terms of unique designs, complete servers solutions and differentiated services."

At the heart of today's announcement are three Intel Xeon processors-based server board products and one integrated 4-way Intel Xeon processor MP-based server platform.

The Intel(R) Server Board SE7500WV2, Intel(R) Server Board SE7500CW2 and Intel(R) Server Board SHG2 provide a complete line of dual-processor server boards.

The Intel Server Board SE7500WV2, integrated with the new 1U Intel(R) Server Chassis SR1300 and 2U Intel(R) Server Chassis SR2300, is optimized for high-density, rack-mount server environments. The board can be integrated into OEM server product offerings to meet the needs of a variety of Internet applications, including high-performance clusters, firewall, streaming media and e-mail servers. The Intel Server Board SE7500CW2 is a flexible server aimed at bringing Xeon processor-based solutions to the value server segment, and is ideal for small and medium business. Finally, the Intel Server Board SHG2, with the new Intel(R) Server Chassis SC5200, can be used for high-performance, expandable general-purpose servers, and is optimized for more demanding uses, such as an application database. (Editors: See following chart for technical descriptions and usage detail of all products in today's announcement.)

Also announced today for the Intel Xeon processor are the Intel(R) Server Platform SRSH4, a four-way server built around the Intel Xeon processor MP (optimized for 4U, high- performance back-end computing environments), and the Intel(R) Server Platform SPSH4, a 7U pedestal system. These platforms are targeted at demanding uses ranging from large department data-centers to mid-tier and back-end application servers.

For the entry-level server market segment, the Intel(R) Entry Server Board S845WD1-E is an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4-based server board offering essential features for single processor server applications and tasks. It is built around the Intel(R) 845E chipset and Pentium 4 processors greater than 2 GHz. It also has unique server benefits and features not found in desktop systems, including ECC DDR memory, dual onboard 10/100 server adapters (the Intel(R) 82559), ATA RAID and hardware monitoring.

For advanced data protection, Intel offers an optional upgrade to Intel RAID controllers, including the Intel(R) RAID Controller SRCMR, which turns the on-board SCSI channel into full-featured RAID, and ships with a new software stack.

Also announced today are new versions of Intel(R) Server Management software, which adds significant value to the new performance platforms. This product offers full-featured server management on the high-performance server boards without the need to install a remote management card. It is designed to allow customers to remotely monitor and manage the server, whether the server is up or down, and adds unique rack management features and easy-to-use installation wizards.

To help support and maintain these new products, Intel is releasing the latest Server Maintenance Reference Training (SMaRT) Tool CD, version 4.1. SMaRT Tool is a complementary CD-ROM containing comprehensive repair, maintenance and training assistance to support more than 30 Intel-based server products in 10 languages.

With a server built on Intel building blocks, system builders can focus their investments on software and services to develop integrated solutions faster. Intel's unique breadth of products enables solution providers and integrators to deliver competitive technology to meet their customers' enterprise demands.
