lmer, that's one advantage that I think Intel will have for a long time, with respect to their competitors. The ability to offer other building blocks as part of a complete package gives them the ability to control the total package costs much more easily, thus giving their customers the best solutions. It also enables Intel not to have to rely on others as providers, which provides a more reliable time to market. I think it's good that Intel is continuing to invest in this area.

Agreed. It also relieves their customers of R&D expense. Intel is taking this approach in the networking area. Let's hope they are successful there also.
