I don't think folks are for want to go down that path. I think it's more a matter of that road having pretty much gotten paved by A@P's own actions, his own descriptions of his actions.

Over several years of participating in these forums I've had some great dialogue with what I consider very respectable shorters, ones that didn't resort to gurrella tactics. I recall how several of 'em showed up in a posting forum, announced their positions relative to the performance of the company, indicated they thought the price would go down and that they were therefore short. The stock did go down, not a lot but a bit. They politely announced they covered and stated they were moving on to other pastures. Not a single insult hurled throughout the entire process.

I guess what's really the crux here is that gangbanging, longtitude or shortitude, has deservedly gotten a bad name and to a point where there finally now appears a very extensive investigation by the .org and .gov types.
