Simple. Intel's .13u process has been ramping flawlessly since last year, greatly increasing their competitiveness in the market place. Of course, you can always say, "you never know," but I think that having their process ready on time was a key ingredient to remaining profitable over the last few quarters.

The money was very well spent, IMO. The fact that no one would like to admit that on this thread is pretty typical of the mind set that people share here.
