This comment is nothing more than a platitude. It is true that no one can predict exactly where the market is going. But it is easily possible to use various market technical signals to predict a reversal in market direction. Buy (or sell) at those junctures.

Last Friday case in point. One half-hour into trading, various technical signals were giving extreme readings.
A TRIN of 4.80 signaled reversal. Immediate reversal. Buying at that time paid handsomely. One could have cashed out Friday for a nice gain, or held on today for a nicer gain. Personally, I treated that signal as a short-term opportunity.

Or you can basically sit on cash and wait for the blue moons where VIX cruises over 40. You can pretty much count on that for producing intermediate-length buying opps. True, once started, one does not know where the bull trend will stop, but the use of TA can get you out while protecting nice gains.
