Joe,

Check out these server benchmarks (scroll down to 3/22 for the Compaq and Fujitsu results):

sap.com

A 4-way 800 Mhz Itanium system has about the same performance of a 2-way 2.2 GHz Xeon system. If you assume that Itanium II will be twice as fast as Itanium (high limit), and that a 4-way Xeon system would perfectly scale to be twice as fast (high limit), then that puts the 1.0 Ghz Itanium 2 on server performance par with a 2.2 Ghz Xeon. Hammer will have no problem beating the pants off of Itanium II (2, 4, and 8-way), unless HT turns out to be a complete dud.

Pravin.
