I was willing to take Ed Huang's response to your earlier post as good and leave it at that.

Then you reiterated your "hate" post. I simply don't buy it and it borders on BS.

Why?

As a sportsman, I am willing to accept a degree of love/hate relationship amongst the different country teams, as there is a common denominator of being sportsmen to respect and admire each other's ability as players.

Yes, there are specific rivalries that over history these have developed for a number of reasons with a more "charged" atmosphere than others. Examples, Argentina - England, Italy - Germany and (to a lesser extent Brazil - Uruguay; a newer such rivalry is developing between Mexico - USA because it has been in the last 10 - 15 years that the USA has improved a lot in their game.

Your "reasons" for the hatred you mention are not valid:

England is hated not so much because of its team but because of the chaos and havoc caused by its rampaging fans.

I do one, do not "hate" the English (particularly the team), because of that, on the contrary, England is a team, that you can always count on a good match, they may not be ALWAYS at their best (no team is like that) but they are always a tough competitor.

Do not confuse the English team (or England for that matter), with the damned "fanimals" those I despise with passion, but they do not represent neither the team nor their country. They represent a segment of society that shows the lowest possible sort of behavior by sh*theads when hidden by a mob.

A special mention I must note that in this tournament the English fans, have actually behaved quite well, so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that something must be working and I hope they can keep it up.

In fairness, the Dutch fanimals are partially guilty as well for the bad name they have given the sport, yet neither of them represent the sport.

Germany is hated for its rough play, which has lead to the label "Ugly Germans". Anyone remember the keeper Schumacher back in the '82 WC?

I do not hate the Germans for their rough play, Soccer is a contact sport and so long you play clean and without ill intent, you have to admire someone's physical game particularly if it is effective. Remember it all depends on the intent.

In this particular tournament I already expressed my dislike for their display of arrogance in a press article already discussed. But Germany has not always been that way.

Italy, which hasn't made it to the quarters yet, might be hated simply because of its continuous record of surprising everyone tournament after tournament and sticking it to the big guys.

That is a load of rubbish.

The Italians historically have been very effective, this year may not be their best yet... they have managed to stay alive... do they deserve it? imo = NO (not this year), but they are there, and everyone else had the same opportunity, Croatia blew it, and you can't fault the Italians for that.

But do I hate them? Absolutely not. Besides, they have been World Champions three times... there is something else besides coincidence to have such a record.

Brazil is hated simply because of its success which breeds arrogance.

Uffff.... This statement tells me you do not know much about fútebol...

If there is a team that is LOVED by nearly everyone that knows a little about the sport IS BRASIL....

These guys are virtuosos and when they play their "jogo bonito" ("pretty game" as they call it, it is truly a thing of beauty to see them play and their good players NEVER play with ill intent that's how good they are! If anything, there is complete admiration for Brasil, particularly given their record... and the "torcida" (their fans), are a bunch of happy people that play samba all day long while the games are on... for a Brasileiro, the world cup is like an extension of the carnival of Brasil.

So this "hatred" you speak of it is in your mind and it is NOT the reflexion of those who love this game and in many instances play it too

If that's your opinion... well, so be it, but speak for yourself only, don't put words in the mouths of others.
