Cheney was the one person with the authority to immediately block this thievery, or encourage it. He failed the test of responsibility to the American people. His loyalties are clearly elsewhere.

This is one more reason administration officials are eager to hide evidence of meetings and backroom deals. Their view of the energy business, like the war profiteering business, clearly show a desire to rip the maximum from the Treasury by whatever means, including supporting criminal acts, taxpayers be damned.

These are not "public servants". These are opportunists with an agenda of getting their cronies wealthy at taxpayer expense.
