Grace...agree about foreign workers. The ones I've observed on the crews working at my own property are hard workers and don't ask for much.

At the same time, a story appeared in the weekend Wash Post about local teens, who are loafing this summer because they "don't need the money", much less the aggravation. Had my own grown son tell me yesterday that he's making a "lot of money now and saving", so he has plenty to spend. Yikes.....

Only problem with some of these immigrants is lack of language skills, and when lack of English mixes with lack of common sense, it can be disastrous. My favorite painter had to let one newly-arrived guy go, because he just couldn't stop hammering some protruding nails too hard on a client's deck and kept splitting the wood, no matter how hard my painter kept trying to tell him to hammer a little more gently.
