The odds are against anybody who takes on huge risk -- that is why it is called huge risk. You equate America with yourself. Las Vegas is a better fit -- when you put your money on the table you take huge risk. When your money is gone you do not mind so much because you arrived in Las Vegas fully informed that the odds were you would lose whatever you had to start with. And it is called "entertainment" not investing. I am not risk averse. On the contrary. But I believe in making informed decisions -- and the odds of any investment are a key element in being informed. A person who does not understand the nature and degree of the risks undertaken is not an informed person, or perhaps is unable to look directly at the information so obvious to all. Huge risk is far more likely to lead to losses and no gains. In a few cases it will lead a handful to huge gains. This is what brings you back to the tables again and again. Not your "confidence in yourself and America".
