Hi there, gdichaz! Qualcomm is the first to ship samples of WCDMA/UMTS/GSM/GPRS chips as best info seems available. Do you know of a prior sampling from anyone? If so, who, when, where? Well, I don´t know about sampling but how about this Nokia press release from September 2001: press.nokia.com Amongst other things it says: Our 3G product programs are proceeding very well. A couple of weeks ago we completed the world's first 3GPP Release 99 December 00 version standard compliant end-to-end WCDMA call in Finland, using our actual commercial terminal prototypes in GSM and WCDMA modes. Sampling or no sampling, a Nokia prototype GSM/GPRS/WCDMA phone was operational almost one year ago. Don´t know about Qualcomm though.
