Gary, that's a good rule of thumb, though what I have experienced is a bit better than that.

28,800/8 = 3600 charters/sec.

3600 * 100 = 360,000

I typically see anywhere from 400kbytes/sec to 600 kbytes/sec to a very well-connected site (for example, Netscape) and a bit more than 700 kbytes/sec to @Home's local server.

But, of course, you are going to see much less performance than this to most web sites, many of which have less total bandwitdh available than @Home users!

Still, it is startling - 300X, 100X, who cares? :) (Would rather see them be honest and say 100X, though.)

A 56K modem will get you 2X, and look how excited the market got over 56K when it came out...
