Dear Thread:

AMD drop in revenue from $820-900 million to $620-700 million just shows that the normally back end loaded Q2 (June accounts for 50% of sales) wasn't backend loaded at all. With a even June compared to April and May, you get a 25% reduction in sales close to the reported 23% drop in sales. This will be bad for Intel as well, if this continues they will miss even their lowered revenue targets.

Given %50 margin, the hit to profits will not be as high, somewhere in the $100-150 million range (EPS of $0.30-0.50). Given these numbers, they should accelerate Tbred speeds and pull in Hammer, if at all possible.

Definitely a very unpleasant surprise.

Pete

PS This could mean that the July/August fall off doesn't occur this year.
