Anindo: "Everything else is noise" -- for positional goods (and gold is nothing if not a positional good) that is about all you need to know -- that and something about supply/demand dynamics. It was easy to flood the market with IPOs and kill the tech bubble (tech stocks were positional so long as they were scarce and had no valuation metric). Gold is heavily sold forward and shorted while new mines take time to develop. Ignore the noise. Gold is a meaningless investment that is right for the times.
