The problem is that one may be predisposed to high blood pressure just as one may be predisposed to diabetes. We don't know if we are until the symptoms show up. Everyone who consumes excessive salt takes a risk. I don't know how serious that risk is. High blood pressure can be corrected if it occurs so maybe it's not much of a problem. I would be more concerned about stressing the kidneys. I don't know if they're as easy to fix once they stress out.

I don't have any research handy. I dealt with all this a couple of decades ago and have long since lost track of where the research documentation might be. I'm not advocating reducing sodium, only trying to point out that there's a lot of salt in canned juice in case that wasn't noticed. What I've said is what I recall from when I looked into such things. I take blood pressure medication and I watch my sodium somewhat but still consume more than I probably should. My BP is under control. So I don't bother with the issue any more except to keep an eye open for new developments.
