AMD owes over $1 billion to the Dresden Capital Facility Loan Line they got when the commmitted to their Dresden plant a few years ago. It all has to be repaid and they have borrowed already to the hilt. There is no way they can pay that back. AMD needs a deep pocket partner and I suspect they are looking desperately everywhere. It won't be Microsoft. Not a Japanese or Taiwan company. Not any software company. In fact, I see nobody on the horizon who can take a $5 billion investment in a poker shot.
