Patron... nice thread. I'll throw my .02 worth in. When I went to school in economics the pundits were commenting [20 some years ago] how potentially destabilizing it could be to continue to float dollars around the globe as the reserve currency even though in the short run it was literally spending for free. As is usually the case when a group is wrong for a period of time, they become totally discredited as 'chicken littles' and their concepts are dropped. Normally, some truth rings out of what was said at some point... but on this topic the position has simply continued to grow and grow with only a few 'scares' along the way.

If there ever IS a run on the dollar, it has the potential to have the most reaching effects since the oil crisis for sure... probably including even that.
