Highlights from the conference call

Overall, the CC was reassuring. R&D spending continues, no layoffs. Conversion of FAB 25 to flash is moving ahead. Will still have $1B in cash at end of quarter. The bright spot in flash is sales for high end mobile phones.

Full conversion to .13 in Dresden by end of Q3.

Hammer shipments in Q4 with Hammer PC's for sale in Q1 03.

Flash is up sequentially around 10%. Units CPU sales are down more than 10% and there is a drop in ASP's as well. Some rough math: if CPU/flash split is 70%/30%, then 20% reduction in sales AND ASP, gives total sales of .7(900).8(8) + .3(900)1.1 = 700. So it looks like BOTH unit and ASP's are down by 20%. Ugh. Note that the new CPU/flash split will be 58/42 according to my ballpark estimates.

Losing share in desktop because "AMD is not represented in the high end". Since mobile is also weak, although AMD's product is fully competitive, AMD cannot offset the desktop weakness. So Rivet expects that AMD market share will go down some.

Things are supposed to improve in H2. Not much in the way of specifics, so this part is scary. With no revenue shipments of Hammer in 02, it looks rather bleak to me. And, of course, there's no guarantee that the Hammer rollout will be glitch free. We need faster Tbreds badly.
