>> pre-arranged trades <<

It goes on and on. A fund manager allows it to be known that blocks are available. But, why?

Funds know that a large overhang guarantees profit on a short. No brainer.

My question...... what does the fund manager gain, all fronts and every conceivable angle, from letting it be known that he/she is going to sell and is willing to sell at much lower prices? How do the buyer and seller profit in the interim, between the advertisement of shares available and the consummation of the trade?

We know who gets hurt. Only those who are privileged re. the trades know who makes money, and how. I know how one fund manager does it, or did it in the old days. But, it's different today, IMO. It appears, to me, that there is intentional broad distribution of the news that blocks are available, that there is intent to drive the price further south than is rational.
