Holly, GM, Peter F -- just checked in, sorry I was
off my assigned watch tonight -- had some real work
to do, for once.<g>

What Gottfried means by 'thread works' is that we
got started discussing an effective means with
which to handle certain posters who detract from
the enjoyment of SI.

We would like to think that our solutions have
enabled other SI'ers to recognize and properly
deal with people who spread misinformation, post
nothing but insults, or post potentially harmful
graphics.

Mind you, we don't consider ourselves 'SI Cops'.
We don't push our conclusions around on the threads.
One should note that SI's lurker ratio is pretty high.
If you have noticed a decrease in 'Kook' activities,
we would like to think that it may be through the
power of other people lurking here, and taking the
ideas to their 'home threads'. But that may be
wishful thinking, and only the anonymous lurker
knows for sure. Pretty spooky, isn't it?!

So, by osmosis, our thread works.

On Needles and Threads: sewing is a popular pasttime
amongst most SI participants (about 85%). I don a
headset, and have installed Apple's fine Speech Manager
extension in my Mac. Thus, I am able to sew, sew, sew
my way into a new wardrobe whilst providing internet chatter
to drive Iomega's stock price. The productivity ratio
is enormous -- but so is my Mac.

OT means "off-topic", or "overtime" depending on context.
(This is in response to a current discussion here.)
Perhaps Peter is describing the amount of time that he
and many others (myself included) spend on SI. Way
OverTime!!
