Sorry for your loss JimBo but I have always followed a simple rule of thumb, "When a broker says that its a long term investment, he means that you can buy it cheaper later."

I try to work with brokers that are starting out. I suppose the ideal would be to find a broker that would consider your account one of her largest. For most of us that would mean dealing with brokers at smaller houses where the research may not be perfect, but you get the news while its fresh.
